gothere travel tip four: not too many souvenirs

ahhh souvenirs, they seemed like such a good idea at the time, but what do you do with them when you get home?
Of course I still buy souvenirs when I go away, but have i used any of them since i’ve come home? not really.
While traveling Europe I wanted to have something from every country, but you can only buy so many key rings and bracelets before you think “what am i going to do with all of these key rings and bracelets!!”
Maybe only buy a few souvenirs that are actually useful, like a calender, or funny pen. I have a mini English telephone box that sits on my shelf that I love. They can make funny presents for your friends, or great bed t-shirts, but that’s about it. Before going souvenir crazy maybe think about what else you could put that money towards, like something you will ACTUALLY USE!

gothere travel tip three: forget about home

Taking a holiday should enable you to relax and forget about your normal day to day life. It’s a great excuse to turn off your email, log out of Facebook and just enjoy what you are doing. Finding out what your friend had for breakfast through Instagram is not so important. You can update all of your social media when you get home. I personally love not checking it all the time, you’ll have more fun traveling and not miss home if you are away for a long period of time. Then when you do come home you can show everyone your photo’s and video’s and think about all of the fun things you did.
Just remember you are not really missing out, and life will return to normal pretty quickly once you arrive home, so enjoy it while you can!

Enjoy your holidays like this!

gothere travel tip two: try new things

Traveling is all about new experiences and trying new things, so make sure you get out of your comfort zone and try something new!
Whether it is an interesting food, like escargot (snails) in France or something adrenaline pumping like bungy jumping in New Zealand, it will become a great memory from the trip and you don’t always get opportunities twice. Be ready and willing to try something different, you might end up loving it.

gothere travel tip one: pack light

Probably the toughest decision before going on a holiday, is choosing what to pack. for some reason those three dresses that I hardly ever wear become essential for my holiday. When really you end up wearing the same clothes most of the time anyway. I would advise planning your outfits before you go, and having combinations of tops and pants that you can swap, and lets not forget you HAVE to leave room for all of the extra things you will buy overseas. (Wearing three coats on the plane home from Europe was not ideal, if only I didn’t bring those dresses that I never wore.)
so pack light and leave room for purchases!!
